In chapter 24, the man called Freddie Jones invited Jurgis to his house, provided a meal, and talked to Jurgis about his family. Why did Freddie do these things to Jurgis?

"Grandmother Majauszkiene saw that her friends were puzzled at this remark; they did not quite see how paying for the house was "fooling the company."" (P.82)

Grandmother Majauszkiene saw the people struggling, and helped them with her  knowledge from experience. Predict what would happen to Jurgis family if Grandmother Majauszkiene did not help them.

In the book, Mrs. Ttt said, "Telepathy!" when Captain Williams and his crew came to see her. Also, Mr. Aaa said, "Don't be silly, everyone knows that!" It means that they could use telepathy to read the others mind and talk without making a sound.

Imagine what will happen if everybody could use telepathy all of a sudden.
